Facebook shows you more ads based on your friends interests and we all are aware of this fact. Even the latest updates in Twitter suggest more relevant news. They can do this without a third party or anyone knowing about your preferences.

So what does this mean for ecommerce websites? Well yes we have seen a huge change in the way people shop by going shopping online instead of visiting physical stores. Also with so much data available today most companies don’t need to check every single customer. As there are still so many items listed in different categories of products and there is no room for error in that regard. There is also less risk involved as there are fewer chances of fraud in ecommerce which can ruin millions of dollars in sales. So basically this brings the possibility of both personalization and recommendation system which is extremely useful.

Some other applications include recommending content on the basis of user interest and personalization. With deep learning algorithms, you can analyze a person’s behavior and learn what they feel or want based on that to develop better campaigns.
